Great caregiving starts with great training. At JEVS Care at Home, we want to support your growth and make sure you have every tool you need to provide the best possible care.

That’s why we offer a range of training opportunities throughout the year, covering some of the most important skills in home care. Plus, you will be paid your training rate for every hour of training you complete.

Dementia Capable Care Training (Online/Virtual | 3.5–7 hours)

Dementia affects millions of Americans, and understanding how to provide compassionate, effective care for people living with it is one of the most valuable skills a caregiver can have.

Dementia Capable Care (DCC) is an evidence-based training program designed specifically for caregivers. It covers the disease process, cognitive levels, positive interventions, de-escalation techniques, and more. This is an online course divided into 16-modules that you can complete at your own pace. (Please note: this course must be completed on a laptop or desktop; it is not compatible with mobile devices.)

If you’d like more training, you can register for an additional 3-hour in-person classroom session where you can explore Alzheimer’s and other dementias in greater detail.

CPR / First Aid / AED Training (In Person | 2–3 hours)

Knowing how to respond in an emergency can make all the difference. This hands-on training covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to handle choking, burns, and bleeding. It’s the kind of training that gives you confidence and could one day save a life.

Skills Lab Training (In Person | 2 hours)

This is a practical, hands-on session focused on the daily care of clients with high acuity needs. Topics include bed-bound care, repositioning, transfers, Hoyer lift, catheter care, incontinence changes, linen changes, and more. If you work with clients who need a higher level of physical care, this training is for you.

Mental Health First Aid Training (Blended Learning or In Person | 6–7 hours)

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Caregivers are often in a unique position to notice when someone may be struggling. This training teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in the people you support.

The course follows a clear five-step action plan: assess the situation, listen without judgment, offer reassurance and information, encourage professional help, and support self-help strategies. It’s practical, compassionate, and eye-opening.
