If you reach out to us about one of our open positions, there’s a good chance you’ll connect with Ashley Jamison, Recruiter in our Philadelphia office. Ashley’s journey to JEVS Care at Home began when she started working as a home health aide. Recently, she shared what inspired her to pursue a career in healthcare, what she finds most rewarding about recruiting, and how a passion for helping others runs in her family.
Please tell us about your professional background and how you came to work in homecare.
I started working as a home health aide when I was 18, and I quickly discovered how deeply I cared for each person I supported. I wanted to ensure each client felt truly safe, loved, and never alone. That heartfelt instinct showed me just how personal, rewarding and meaningful this work can be.
My inspiration came from my great-grandmother, who I was very close to — so close that my entire family called me “the favorite”. Watching someone so strong and independent gradually need help with daily care influenced me. It showed me the vulnerability we all face, and it sparked my desire to support others in those moments. That experience, combined with my own time working as a caregiver, turned into a true passion that led me to the healthcare field.
What do you do in your role at JEVS Care at Home?
As a recruiter, I work to match the right caregivers with the right clients, pairing people whose personalities, needs, and values align so that both the caregiver and the person receiving care feel seen, respected, and genuinely supported. It’s incredibly rewarding to help create those meaningful, trusting connections that make such a positive difference in people’s lives.
What aspect of your work do you find most fulfilling?
The most fulfilling part of my role is knowing that every placement I make has a real, positive ripple effect on people’s lives. As a recruiter, I get to channel that same heart I had as a caregiver into finding the perfect match between a compassionate caregiver and someone who needs exactly that kind of care. When I hear from a caregiver that they’ve found a job where they feel valued, supported, and are making a meaningful difference for their patients, or clients say they are happier because of the person I placed, it’s incredibly rewarding. I’m still helping people— but now I’m helping on a bigger scale by building trusting, life-changing connections.
I also take great pride and satisfaction in understanding the needs of healthcare facilities and placing a great caregiver who makes for a strong and lasting fit. Good matches mean better patient care, happier staff, and less burnout.
How would you explain how JCAH differs from other providers to a potential client or partner organization?

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
In my spare time I love to cook, spend time with my family, and work on my children’s book collection.
If you could acquire a superpower, what would it be?
I would love to acquire the power to heal.
