JEVS Care at Home (JCAH) recently announced the opening of our Delaware office. We’re excited to serve aging adults and adults with disabilities in the Diamond State!

Beverly Ward has played a big part in getting us up and running in Delaware. She shared recently about what she finds most fulfilling about her work, the superpower she’d like to acquire, and how the skills she learned as a private investigator serve her well in her role as Senior Director of Homecare.

Please tell us about your professional background and how you came to work in homecare.

I have spent over 20 years working in the nonprofit sector, primarily focused on affordable housing and community development. Two years ago, my adult daughter became ill, and I stepped into the role of her caregiver. That experience opened my eyes to the challenges families face in navigating home care and accessing available resources. It inspired me to shift my career toward home care, where I could use my skills and passion to help individuals and families find the services they need to live safely and independently.

What do you do in your role at JCAH?

As Senior Director of Home Care for Delaware, I lead the Quality Assurance team and make sure our home care operations meet all compliance standards. I focus on accuracy in enrollment packages, keeping policies and procedures up to date, and ensuring we follow funder, state, and federal regulations. I’m also working on building processes to help us integrate JEVS Care at Home (JCAH) and our Financial Management System (FMS) program so that we can maintain high-quality care while supporting program growth.

What aspect of your work do you find most fulfilling?

Knowing that the processes I develop and oversee directly help people live safely and comfortably in their homes. Contributing to systems that support independence and well-being gives real meaning to my work.

How would you explain how JCAH differs from other providers to a potential client or partner organization?

JCAH stands out because of our genuine commitment to treating every client and caregiver with respect and dignity. Our team truly cares about the people we serve, and we go beyond providing services—we build relationships and ensure that each individual feels valued and supported throughout their care journey.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two adult children and our three cats. My family loves vacationing at Disney, and we often do crafts together. I also enjoy working on home improvement projects with my son—it’s a great way to be creative and accomplish something meaningful together.

If you could acquire a superpower, what would it be?

I would like to have the ability to heal people with chronic illnesses like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. After caring for my own daughter during her illness, I’ve seen firsthand how much these conditions impact individuals and families. Having the power to take away that pain and give people back their health would mean everything to me.

Tell us a surprising/interesting/little-known fact about yourself!

A little-known fact about me is that earlier in my career, I was a licensed private investigator. It was a completely different world from what I do now, but it taught me incredible attention to detail and problem-solving skills—qualities I still use every day.
