Statistics show that 39% of U.S. adults provide care for a loved one.
According to AARP, family caregivers have taken advantage of a number of technological trends beyond the Internet to help them care for their loved one or an elderly family member. Three trends that AARP recommends are:
- GPS Technology: GPS trackers, which can alert a caregiver via text message, can attach to clothing, or be worn on the wrist and tell the caregiver a senior’s exact location.
- Medic Alert: This Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) allows the person wearing this device to press a button to contact a call center in case of an emergency.
- Medication Reminders: Tools like TabSafe and MedMinder can be used to set reminders for taking medications or alert their caregiver when a senior has forgotten to take their medication.
