February is Heart Health Month. Heart Disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. 1 in 4 deaths happen every year due to heart-related issues.
Fortunately, heart disease can often be prevented by making healthier choices and following these tips.
- Be active: 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week can help your overall heart health
- Follow a heart-healthy diet: fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and fish
- Manage your stress levels: high levels of stress can stimulate high blood pressure
- Limit your alcohol consumption: drinking too much alcohol can raise blood pressure, increase your risk for heart disease, stroke, cancer, and other diseases
