Location, Location: The decision to base JEVS at Home in Northeast Philadelphia came as a response to the more than 20,000 community members who were in need of its non-medical home care services. JEVS at Home’s parent company, JEVS Human Services, already built strong relationships within the Philadelphia area, and JEVS at Home had the opportunity to further those bonds. “This location allows us to continue to be an integral part of the community by supporting them and being close by.” says CEO Aurora Kripa.
FUN FACT: “Coming from Albania at the age of 14 and finding a way to fit into this community … makes me appreciate the unique aspect of diversity on a very personal level.”
Giving and Receiving: Today, JEVS at Home has 1.100 clients and 1,300 caregivers. Many patients have a family member take care of them, and JEVS trains those family caregivers to help them provide better care. This allows JEVS members to stay in their homes and communities and maintain independence, all while receiving appropriate care.
Lasting Impact: JEVS at Home is always looking for new ways to expand its services and reach people in other areas. This year, it opened an office in Pittsburgh, and is working to provide private-pay options and community integration to its participants. Additionally, as JEVS at Home grows, it hopes to create volunteer opportunities that focus on the company’s senior participants.
