Nicole Blake, Caregiver at JEVS at Home
For some, their caregiving journey begins because an ailing loved one needs care. However, sometimes people choose to become caregivers because of their love of helping others. Nicole Blake is one of those caregivers.
“I’m an empathetic person,” Nicole explained. “I spend every other Sunday volunteering at Love Park feeding the homeless with food that I’ve cooked for them. I also
donate anything I can.” In addition, she is a volunteer for the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society and a committee member of the Philadelphia Hoarding Task Force where
she facilitates group workshops and one-on-one sessions for people afflicted with hoarding disorders.
Her compassionate personality and drive to help others is beautifully portrayed within her job as a caregiver. “I love knowing that I make a difference for my client,” Nicole said. “Just knowing that I make her life easier is very rewarding. She’s always saying, ‘I don’t know what I’d do without you.’”
